Between Punta di Ranco and Punta della Fornace di Ispra there is a vast gulf: Golfo della Quassa. It has several unusual features meriting the utmost protection and interest, first and foremost of which is that it is the only lengthy section of north facing coastline in the whole of Lake Maggiore.
