A fun itinerary which starts in Caldè, known as Lake Maggiore’s Portofino, and winds along low-traffic roads and mule tracks uphill to Rifugio Adamoli on Pizzo di Cuvignone. After an attractive section to Chiesa di Sant’Antonio, another exceptional viewpoint and a base from which to explore the Froda waterfalls, the route continues in the direction of Arcumeggia, the famous ‘painted’ village, with its frescoes on characteristic mountain houses.
